Wrapped in the flag.

The following was written by a very insightful and Spirit-led man on a blog called “A Call to the Remnant.” I ask every church leader in the world to read this…no matter what the color of your flag.

A Call To The Remnant

(Matt 5:13)You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty flagagain? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.

So much of American Christianity is wrapped in their flag. Yet there is a wider problem in Christendom that goes well beyond the borders of the United States. It lies at the very heart of the religion of Christianity as opposed to the reality of Christ. True Christianity is indeed about becoming by grace what Christ is by nature. Yet the history of the Christian church from the time of Constantine to now has been about how to merge the church and the state. In order to do that the church has sanctioned wars and called it ” just wars.” This is the preposterous notion that the teachings of Jesus and the life…

Hearing from God

I've noticed a relationship with God and searching for car keys are very similar: The answers are often right in front of us. For years, I have earnestly searched for a close friendship with God. Not so much in the sense that we were far apart, but simply because I wanted to hear from him... Continue Reading →

The Basics of Humility

If there is one message Jesus Christ taught throughout his ministry it has to be the message of humility. Humility is the foundational principle of the gospel. Without humility, everything we do is worthless. In the thirteenth chapter for I Corinthians, Paul describes how Love is great than hope and even faith. That's a tall... Continue Reading →

Why Christians are Leaving Christianity

A close relative of mine is Buddhist. That in and of itself may not sound strange. But what is unnerving is he used to be a dyed-in-the-wool Baptist. Talk about one extreme to the other! There is a growing trend in American Christianity. People are leaving churches and embracing eastern religions, especially Buddhism. While I... Continue Reading →

The Frustrated Christian

Christians are becoming increasingly frustrated. I completely understand why. In fact, I have often found myself in so much frustration that I do not know what to do. One of the biggest frustrations is that we are looking for something in the “church” world to help answer life’s deepest questions. Unfortunately, we are not finding... Continue Reading →

The Fraternal Brotherhood

They are the words the father of any college age freshman son dreads to hear: "Dad, I joined a fraternity." Yes, I have to admit I was a bit stunned. I immediately had visions of all night parties on par with Animal House. After all, fraternities are not known for their wisdom, character or stability.... Continue Reading →

The Very Few Words of Christ

Just a cursory look at the New Testament reveals the few words Christ spoke. At least the ones we have recorded in the four writings of his life and ministry. If one combines only the words of Jesus' into one book, it would be a very thin booklet. While Christ spoke and did many more... Continue Reading →
